The Dinner Night at the Fisher's (with JIM, too)

We had another lovely time with the Fisher's - Steve and Beth are such gracious hosts - and Wes joined us which was grand. Will got confused and missed the party but Danielle brought some barbeque home for him. Ken & I, Reid & Nancy, Ruth,
Thomas, Olice and Jim rounded out the crowd. I believe these are HIS first pictures on the blog!!

A Visit to the Farm Part 1

Nancy and I took Ruth (and Olice) to see the Fisher Farm where there's always something going on - we mostly wanted to taste the scumernogs. Reid joined us over there just before we went home and when Steve arrived (PaPa to Olice), we arranged to have supper on the Thursday before Ruth's flight back to England.

Here's Olice waving goodbye to y'all!

My True Celeb Look Alikes

Stacy took a mug shot of me and this is who came up. Sorry, Honey. You didn't know you shared a bed with such a scary woman. FREAKY!! I know Tony Danza...but that first guy?? Do you see the resemblance?? I think it's the eyes and nose...but, it could be the facial hair I guess. :) HA HA HA HA HA

Surprise Shower for Schelyn

This will give you a taste of the good time and weather that we had for Schelyn's surprise shower!

Here's how it happened: She thought it would be a good idea to see a lot of their friends on that one Saturday night that they would be in town so they asked if they could spring a party at the house. No problem, we said. Little did she know that her mother-in-law would have the bright idea of turning that gathering into a baby shower!! What a grand idea and so easy!! After all, Schelyn had done a lot of the work herself!! Now it's time to bring that baby on!! - Oma Marijke

Photographer at the Rehearsal for Brent & Jennifer

Thankfully some of the pictures look like they turned out just fine but, as you can imagine, I felt quite alien in this position of 'official friend photographing candid shots of the rehearsal and dinner'. I didn't get paid, of course, but the dinner was special enough to make me feel that I'd better do a perfect job! (There are more at Snapfish.com. Let me know if you don't know how to access that spot!)

I'll bring my camera this afternoon to see if I can get some shots of the boys getting ready - there will be plenty of girls recording memories in the other room, I'm sure!! Plus I might catch a good shot at the rehearsal but, again, there will be cameras everywhere. It's fun not to have to pay a professional for some of the most simple pics, though; don't we all know that! Love, Oma Marijke

Still Piles of Trash!

Well, we STILL have piles of trash laying around. But, hopefully these are the final piles. Who can say for sure? We are so ready to be done with the project, and the last few details seem to take longer than anything else! Our downstairs floors are getting refinished right now in anticipation of the kitchen cabinet installation, electrical and drywalling that needs to be done still. Maybe by the 25th we'll have at least some cabinets in place downstairs. Todd is still getting upstairs to paint and caulk, but now he only has access to it by a ladder off the back deck! The painting will probably continue for long after we move in. (All you October visitors, be prepared to be handed both a baby and a paintbrush!) We are really cutting it close to delivery date, but I have to remember that God already knows when we will move back in and when the baby is coming, and He has determined what time line will be best for us. And we trust in His wisdom above ours.

Yes, Ruth is HERE!

We all know the main reason for Ruth's visit but she's gotten to visit with many more people than Olice, that's for sure. Dot and Ray were over for Sunday lunch and next week the Lewis' will eat with us. Here's a shot of some of us at Danielle's for lunch - she doesn't have a high chair, of course, but Olice sat really well in a regular chair. That kid never ceases to amaze us - he's too content for his own good sometimes! (He can say Oma now, by the way! I might have to blog a short video clip for that!! And yesterday he apparently said 'Ruth' but I wasn't around to witness that - guess we'll work on it some more...) Love you all - Oma Marijke

Limbo and Sunflowers

Hey! Well, I had a crazy shower this past weekend. It was Hawaiin themed and I got to do the limbo AND hula hooping! I had such a good time, and my cheeks hurt from laughing so hard. I gave E the camera and she took some shots. Here are some other photos of some of the wild flowers we've had this summer at Palmer Park. Love ya'll!

Auntie Ruth is Coming

Aunt Ruth is coming today! You can't see her from this photo, but she's flying into GSP from Newark, and we are very excited to see her, and hear all about how she did up there in N.J. for the week. We'll have to post more this week of Ruth enjoying good ol' South Carolina.

Cooperative Bees for our Resident Artist

I've been forbidden to make a photograph of the 'work in progress' but here's the subject matter. See the two bees posing for my camera? (That's the garden bench in the background with the kids' initials on it and here's a closeup of the bench with Thomas and Beau.) Anyway, Ken is doing a painting of this bee shot - it's going to be really nice - I'll pass it on when it's a little closer to being finished. - Love you - Mom
